Strong NY Fest
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Strong New York ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Strong NY Fest mobile app (the "App"). By using the App you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a salted one-way hash (bcrypt) — we never store or can see your actual password. If you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple identifier and the email and name you choose to share.
- Profile details: a display name and optional details you choose to add, such as year of birth, gender, and — for the festival — your division and bib number, plus an optional profile photo.
- Festival activity: the scores you log at each station, your results and standings, and community posts, comments, and reactions you create.
- Photos you upload (for example a profile picture). Uploaded media is stored on our servers and may be served through public content links.
- Referral information if you invite others or join via an invite or referral code.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: a push-notification token (to send you notifications), basic in-app usage events, the App version and update identifiers, and standard server logs including your IP address.
Information we do not collect
- The App does not collect your location, and it has no background location tracking.
- The App does not read data from Apple Health / HealthKit or any other health platform.
- We do not use third-party advertising networks or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to create and manage your account and profile; run the festival — logging station scores, leaderboards and standings, and the community feed; generate the AI-assisted score and percentile callouts described below; send notifications you've enabled; keep the App secure and debug problems; and improve the App.
3. AI features
To generate your score and percentile callouts, we send the relevant festival result data to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude API), which processes it to return a result. This data is sent only to perform that feature. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models, and we do not use these features to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects about you.
4. How your information is shared
With other participants
Strong NY Fest is a social event app. Your display name, profile photo, results, and standings are visible to other participants through leaderboards, stations, and the community feed. Event administrators can view participant information (including email) and verify results.
With service providers
- Anthropic — AI processing, as described above.
- Expo — delivers push notifications and app updates.
- Apple — if you use Sign in with Apple, to authenticate you.
- Railway — hosts our servers, database, and uploaded files (in the United States).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
For legal reasons
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or us.
5. Data retention and deleting your account
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the App. Deletion removes your account and associated data — your profile, results, posts, comments, and uploaded photos — from our active systems. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Some information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten, and we may retain limited records where required by law. You can also request deletion by emailing us at info@strongnewyork.com.
6. Security
We protect your information with industry-standard measures, including hashing passwords (bcrypt) and encrypting data in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
7. Children's privacy
The App is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access and update: view and edit your profile information in the App.
- Notifications: disable push notifications in your device settings.
- Deletion: delete your account as described above.
Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EEA/UK), you may have additional rights such as the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@strongnewyork.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
9. International users
We operate the App in the United States, and your information is processed and stored there. If you use the App from outside the United States, you consent to that transfer and processing.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
